Eating well on a GLP-1 program

GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide often reduce appetite. That makes what you do eat matter more. Here are a few habits our care team commonly discusses with patients.
Lead with protein
Building each meal around a protein source helps preserve lean muscle as you lose weight. Your clinician can help you set a daily target that fits your goals.
Hydrate on purpose
Eating less often means drinking less without noticing. Keep water nearby and sip through the day, especially around dosing days.
Go slow with rich foods
Large, greasy or very sweet meals are the most common trigger for nausea. Smaller plates and slower eating usually help.
Keep your care team in the loop
Side effects, plateaus and questions are all normal. Message your clinician — dosing is adjusted to you, not to a chart.
